Transnational Conflict on Food and Agriculture: Issues and Challenges
Food and agriculture are critical components of human society and their management often involves multiple stakeholders, which can create conflicts. Conflicts related to food and agriculture can be at various scales – local, national, and international – and often involve transnational actors. The unprecedented level of wealth in modern human society is also marked by continuous hunger, agriculture and food insecurity leading to conflicts in many parts of the world. In addition, the recent war in Ukraine has accelerated rises in global food prices and resulted in increased conflicts over food in their various manifestations (e.g. as contestations over access to land, supply chains, or ecological consequences of large-scale agricultural production).
