Technical University of Munich
The Technical University of Munich (TUM) has maintained partnerships with some of the most prestigious Indian universities since 2001. In November 2014 TUM established its own liaison office at the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce in Mumbai.
TUM Mumbai acts as an interface between India and TUM. The liaison office was launched to further raise TUM’s visibility and strengthen its research ties with India. TUM Mumbai is one of six liaison offices in addition to Beijing, Brussels, Cairo, São Paulo and San Francisco. The expansion of a global presence is part of the initiative TUM Global, a core piece of TUM’s institutional strategy.
TUM is one of Europe’s leading research universities, with around 550 professors, 42,000 students, and 10,000 academic and non-academic staff. Its focus areas are the engineering sciences, natural sciences, life sciences and medicine, combined with economic and social sciences. TUM acts as an entrepreneurial university that promotes talents and creates value for society. In that it profits from having strong partners in science and industry. In 2006 and 2012 it won recognition as a German “Excellence University”. In international rankings, TUM regularly places among the best universities in Germany.
