Germany is a leading destination for Artificial Intelligence (AI) related research and development. In fact, it is home to the famous Cyber Valley, which happens to be Europe’s largest consortium for research and innovation in machine learning and related fields.

Here is a list of some resources including platforms, policy papers, funding programmes and reports (not exhaustive) on the developments in AI in Germany.

Nationale Strategie für Künstliche Intelligenz - AI Made in Germany

Platform informing about the national AI strategy of Germany, including flagship projects. The platform is hosted by the Federal Government of Germany.

Map on AI in Germany

The Map on AI presents research institutions and applications developed in Germany in the field of AI. The map is successively expanded with further examples from science and practice. The platform is hosted by Acatech on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).

AI Campus

The AI Campus is a digital learning platform geared towards AI. It provides a selection of high-quality AI learning opportunities. All learning opportunities are available free of charge. The platform is developed by the Stifterverband, the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), NEOCOSMO and the mmb Institute. It is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Germany (BMBF).

KI Bundesverband (AI Federal Association)

The KI Bundesverband is a network of more than 300 companies and start-ups in the field of deep tech. The network provides platforms for knowledge exchange and represents the interests of their community on a political level.

The German Research Foundation (DFG) has launched a strategic funding initiative in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Projects from all areas of AI research are to be financed in various funding programmes in the years 2020 to 2022 as part of the initiative.
